resurrection of the YF-23 design for Japan Next Super-fighter jet after the F-35?
resurrection of the YF-23 design for Japan Next Super-fighter jet after the F-35? US defense giant Northrop Grumman says it is “very interested” in Japan F-3 program to build the nation a new fighter jet. Now Japan is soliciting for help from abroad, hoping to cut the amount of time, it would take to field a new fighter. Defense giant, Lockheed Martin, developer of the F-22 Raptor, and F-35 Fighter, was the first to answer the call offering a hybrid of those two planes. Other defense contractors, could still enter the F-3 competition, particularly, Boeing and BAE. Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, went head-to-head back in the early 1990's, during the Advanced Tactical Fighter-competition. One possibility is the resurrection of the YF-23 design, with modernized electronics, and a Japanese engine. If that’s Northrop’s proposal, then we could be living through the 1990's all over again pitting Son of F-22 and F-35 versus a reincarnated Son of YF-23. source: https://goo.gl/9UbdyN
